What should I expect from a certified appraiser?
When you contract with Heirloom Appraisal we will:
| Inspect your items in person. A photograph just won't do. |
| Photograph your items with a digital camera and make notes about size, condition, and other other pertinent information |
| Conduct research on your items |
| Prepare a written report which includes market analysis, legal definition of valuation type, certification document, appraiser's credentials, inventory analysis and identifying photos. You will receive two copies of the report. |

Shirley is an accredited member of the International Society of Appraisers and is certified by the Appraisers Guild of America. She has also earned the designation Certified Estate Specialist from the National Auctioneers Association. She has been conducting professional appraisals for over seven years and is Wisconsin Registered Auctioneer #2135. Shirley has also been an antiques dealer for 15 years.

What do you charge for appraisals?
Our appraisal fees are based on an hourly rate. An appraiser should never charge you a percentage of what s/he says is the value of your property. Expect to pay a one hour minimum rate and to pay for the time spent conducting the inventory and taking photos at that initial visit. You will also be expected to pay for the work done prior to receiving the written report. Call for the current hourly rate.
Additional expenses which will be charged to the customer include travel time, postage to mail report, parking if applicable, long distance charges, additional copies of the report, associate's time if necessary and other direct expenses.
If you become involved in legal proceedings and need Heirloom Appraisal to defend the appraisal report, time spent preparing for and testifying in court, will be billed at the regular hourly rate
